A ginger family plant. Medicinal herbs widely use among the Thai people. The medicinal part is the underground modified stem called rhizomes. The inner part of the rhizome is deep purple to black thus the common name called 'Black Galangga' or the Malays call it 'Kunyit Hitam'. In Malaysia, it is sought after by 'Bomoh' to perform black magic for healing.
